As the culmination of my university studies, I was tasked with designing and manufacturing a rocking chair. This project served as an opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge I had gained throughout my academic journey.

The Problem
While the traditional Acapulco chair design offers a unique aesthetic, there are limited variations available in the market.
The Goal
This project aims to explore the potential of innovative materials and manufacturing techniques to reimagine the classic Acapulco chair as a comfortable and visually striking rocking chair.
Function & Components
Summary
The chair is made of rolled steel tubing and PVC cord, incorporating ergonomic metrics to ensure accessibility for a wide range of users.
Frame
The metal frame was constructed using a combination of tube rolling, cutting, welding, and painting techniques. It features a tubular structure composed of circular and rectangular tubes, reinforced with metal rods.
PVC Cord
The PVC cord was woven by hand, replicating the traditional techniques used in the creation of the Acapulco chair.
